Kurokawa-Onsen

I did not really think about Kurokawa onsen(hot spring), when I decided to open backpakckers in Aso more than 5 years ago. Kurokawa is a fantastic onsen town located at North of Mt.Aso. Our address includes the name "Kurokawa" but there is nothing to do with Kurkawa onsen. You have to take a bus from Aso station for about 50minutes and you will be there. You buy an onsen pass which is made by a slice of wood for 1,200yen and you will be able to have three onsens out of 24 onsens to choose from. It can be a very good one day trip from ASO BASE BACKPACKERS. Of corse you can stay a night or two in Kurokawa, but you should remember that it cost you at least 13,000yen per person per night. Although, it will be a good Japanese "Ryokan" experience, I guess it might be a little bit tight for budget travellers. We have encouraged to visit Kurokawa onsen for a lot of our guests and "ALL" (Yes, "ALL") of them had a good time there so far (or at least they say good to us). We can recommend Kurokawa-onsen with total confidence.

If you are planning to visit ASO, don't miss Kurokawa-onsen, too. It means you have to stay ASO BASE BACKPACKERS at least for two nights, you know;-).
